Small exotics include the
little guys like rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, as well as the
so-called "pocket-pets" like rats, hamsters, gerbils, sugar
gliders, and hedgehogs. These all can make wonderful pets,
especially for the space challenged client. As with other
species, specific habitat, nutritional, and social concerns should
be researched and addressed prior to purchase. Many disease
problems can be managed by early assessment of husbandry practices
and physical condition. Visit us for some tips/handouts
on taking care of these guys, or better yet, set-up a doctors
consultation to review your pet's health.
