"Exotic" exotics are termed
as such here for lack of a better term. There are a
great number of captive bred or orphaned wild animals that end up
being kept as pets. Patients we have taken care of in this
category include a great variety of non-human primates (monkeys,
etc), large cats (lions and tigers), wildlife (racoons, possums,
wolves, etc) and creatures like the mongoose, coatimundi,
etc. As a general rule, these wild animals, even if tamed,
are not recommended as pets. (There are a great number of
domesticated species that make great pets!) Their habitat,
social, nutritional, and legal requirements need to be well
researched prior to acquiring these animals. Never the less,
when they need veterinary care, we have developed great reputation
of providing excellent veterinary care to these animals in
need.
