Dr. Ryan McGauley joined the team at West Gate Pet and Bird Hospital in June of 2026
Dr. McGauley was raised in Austin, Texas, where his passion for animals began at an early age caring for neighborhood pets and family animals.
He first began working at West Gate Pet and Bird Hospital in 2019 as a veterinary assistant while pursuing his Biology degree at The University of Texas at Austin. During this time, he developed a strong interest in exotic animal medicine.
Dr. McGauley attended St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada and completed his clinical year at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2026.
His professional interests include small animal and exotic companion animal medicine, preventative care, and client education. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. McGauley enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with his two dogs, Sparky and Rizzo.
